Education, research and innovation at King Sigismund College
Founded in 2001, King Sigismund College is a young higher educational institution, but at the same time it has taken important steps in the past few years to become part of Hungarian and international academic life both as a curriculum developer and as a research institute.
In September 2006 nine new BA programs in the academic fields of business and economics, social sciences and the humanities were launched within the framework of the Bologna process: a bachelor of arts program in andragogy, human resource management, business and management, communication and media studies, international business, international studies, finance and accounting, political science, and humanistic studies. In the fall of 2007 two MA programs in religious studies and political science were started besides the tenth BA program in sociology, and in September 2008 two more MA programs in international studies and international business and economics were added to the educational offers of the college.
Our college is operated according to the requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system. In the second semester of AY 2007/2008, King Sigismund College had 1,252 full-time, and 2,390 part-time students, which gives a total number of 3,642 students.
There is close cooperation between the college and the social science institutes at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The Institute of Political Science, the Institute of Sociology and the Institute for World Economics have external departments at King Sigismund College, where cooperative research projects are carried out, and where HAS-affiliated researchers also take part in education.
King Sigismund College operates three research centers, and its professors and instructors are involved in various cooperative research projects at other institutes.
