Research Center for Media and Cultural Studies
The Research Center for Media and Cultural Studies has among its members ethnographers, political scientists, historians, lawyers, sociologists as well as scholars in literary, media and communication studies. The center is an open institute, more like a workshop, so that more and more external researchers and guest lecturers may be encouraged to join it.
The motivation behind our endeavor to make the center really inter/pluri/transdisciplinary is that – as Roger Silverstone writes – in media research, similarly to any other field of life, there swiftly changing trends, and if we desperately try to keep up with these trends, we may lose our research focus. So our objective is “simply” to understand problems, issues and competing narratives.
The aim of the center is also to provide continuous and extra-curricular research opportunities for students. They can participate in joint faculty-student research projects in which they can apply various methods of textual analysis, archival research, participant observation, interviewing and oral history.
